Fairfield got on the board in the bottom of the first on Liam Grady's sacrifice fly to score Matt Vivona, who had walked to lead off the inning.
Later in the inning, Charlie Mulhall singled and stole second. He moved to third on a wild pitch and then came in to score on a passed ball. Fairfield held a 2-0 lead after one inning.
The score would stay that way until the fifth. Kyle Carozza was throwing well for Fairfield.
In the fifth, Carozza ran into trouble. After getting the first out of the inning, Carozza walked three straight before giving way to Will Meyers.
Ridgfield tied the game later in the inning as Jack Coury came up with a two-out single to left to plate two runs.
Ridgefield took the lead an inning later. A single, walk and sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third with one out. Peter Bridger Rowan then brought home the go-ahead run with a ground out to shortstop.
Fairfield wouldn't score in the sixth and it would take until the seventh to tie the game.
Aidan Browne worked a one-out walk. Two batters later, with two outs, Vivona also walked to move the tying run into scoring position. The next batter, Grady, hit a pop-up to shallow right field and it was dropped at second base. Browne, who was running on contact with two outs, was able to come around from second and tie the game.
In the eighth, Charlie Mulhall doubled to left field. Charlie Swanson then sacrificed Mulhall over to third. That set the stage for Anderson to come through with the hit after falling behind in the count 0-2.
Game two did not go Fairfield's way from the start as Ridgefield came away with the 10-1 win.
Ridgefield got on the board in the second inning on Maxwell Jarvie's two out single to short right field.
Ridgefield added on in the fourth, again with two outs. Coury and Jarvie had back-to-back RBI singles to left field and Will Scott doubled to center field to plate three runs and put Post 78 up 4-0.
Another run for Ridgefield came across in the fifth on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 5-0.
Post 78 blew the game open in the top of the seventh, scoring five times. The big hits in the inning were Jarvie with a two-run single and Scott with an RBI double to deep right field.
Fairfield's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh as Ethan Wallace hit a double over the center fielders head to bring in Mulhall.
Fairfield will be back in action on Sunday at 12pm at Ridgefield.
