19U American Legion Baseball: Fairfield Splits Day One of Coopers Cave Tournament at Saratoga

Jack Martin was strong on the mound in game two on Thursday. 

The 19U Fairfield Legion Militia split their first two games of the Coopers Cave Tournament in Saratoga on Thursday. 

Fairfield fell in the first game by a 7-4 score to Shrub Oak #1. The game was knotted at two through six before Shrub Oak put up 5 in the seventh, The Militia got two back in the bottom half but couldn't push any more across. Sean McAdams, Joey D'Elia and Edmund Hogan each had two hits in defeat. 

In their second game, they defeated Saratoga 4-1 behind strong pitching from Jack Martin and Kevin Donahue. With the game tied at one through five and a half innings, Fairfield put up three runs to secure the win. Hogan, D'Elia, Blake Benway, Jack Corcoran and Matt Sawyer all came up with clutch at bats in the bottom of the sixth. 

Fairfield will be back in action on Friday at 3pm and 5:30pm. The first game is against North Country and game two is against the Monarchs.
