19U American Legion Baseball: Fairfield Falls to NCL in Regional Qualifying Tournament Championship

 


Fairfield 19U Militia fell to NCL 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Regional Qualifying Tournament Championship at Muzzy Field in Bristol. 

The game was scoreless through the first three innings before NCL put up three runs in the fourth. 

With two on and two out, Hunter Demarco singled to center to plate a run. The next batter, Ryan Barthel singled to left to plate two more runs. 

That would be all the scoring for the game. Fairfield had their chances as they had six hits and left six men on base but couldn’t push anything across. 

CJ Montiero threw the ball well for Fairfield, but Claudio Santaniello was even better for NCL. 

Montiero threw a complete game allowing three runs on seven hits, while walking one and striking out seven. 

Santaniello threw a complete game, allowing the six hits walking none and striking out seven. 

NCL will represent Connecticut in the New England Regional in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts beginning on August 4.
