17U American Legion Baseball: Milford Defeats Fairfield in Low-Scoring Affair

Milford 17U Legion baseball defeated Fairfield 3-1 on Thursday evening at Kiwanis Field in Fairfield.

Milford took the lead right off the bat, putting up a run in the top of the first inning. Two walks and an error loaded the bases with one out. Evan Krezner then came up on hit a ball in no-mans land between first and second base. He reached first on an infield single and everyone was safe and Milford took a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Milford tacked on. Andrew Roy walked to lead off the inning. He then moved to third on a pick-off attempt where the throw got away from Fairfield's first baseman. Kian Mcenerney then walked.

With runners at the corners, Mcenerney took off for second before Fairfield pitcher Kieran Rosengren delivered to the plate. He got into a rundown which allowed Roy to come in to score and on the throw attempt to get Roy, Mcenerney was able to get into second base safely. Three batters later, Matthew Simon hit a fly ball to left that was dropped, allowing Mcenerney to come home.

Fairfield got a run back in the bottom half of the inning. James Blanco singled with one out. Ethan Wallace then reached on an error. Two batters later, Tim Donahue singled to right to bring home Blano and get Fairfield on the board. That was all Fairfield would get as two Milford pitchers allowed just that unearned run on five hits.
